MDM Architect

Cycle3 IT Staffing is seeking a MDM Architect for a contract role.

The Stibo aspect for this role seems to be VERY important.
Location: Lakeville, MN
Duration: 6 Months to start- plan is to extend or hire
Reporting to: Associate Director of Data Strategy and Integration

Team: Two Governance Analysts and a team of Item Master Data Stewards. There is also a data engineering team working with Snowflake. The new hires will fill critical gaps in MDM architecture and technical data quality expertise.

Context: Company is in the middle of a large M&A integration that will result in operating ERPs. The organization s data maturity is early-stage (Level 1 2): there is awareness and some stewardship in place, but limited centralized governance and few formal controls around master data.

Company previously invested in Stibo STEP, but the broader MDM rollout was paused when integration priorities accelerated. The current need is not a full enterprise MDM implementation it s to stand up a practical MVP that leverages Stibo STEP to support M&A data conversion. The focus is on improving item master quality before load, identifying duplicates through match/merge, and establishing basic data integrity and cross-system consistency controls across both ERPs.

There is a Snowflake data warehouse team, but no centralized data lake for staging, so solutions must work within the existing ecosystem. This role is 50% architecture (designing controls, cross-references, CRUD ownership, and integrity guardrails) and 50% hands-on configuration in Stibo STEP, as there is currently no internal Stibo expert.

Must Have:
At least one End to End MDM implementation experience using Stibo STEP preferably in CPG domain
True 50/50 capability: architecture + strong hands on experience in logical and physical data model, match-merge-surviorship, multi-level hierarchies
Strong MDM fundamentals: data integrity, consistency, cross-reference, and CRUD ownership across multiple source systems
Strong communication and relationship building skills within low-maturity organizations
Strong data management and data governance understanding
Ability to run cross-functional design conversations with ERP and business workstreams

Should Have:
Data engineering / ETL experience
Familiarity with JDE as a system of record
Cloud implementation experience (Snowflake)

Overview
Leads the planning, design, and development of master data consolidation and harmonization for the 8th Ave to PCB integration across the Customer and Finished Goods domains. This role is responsible for defining and implementing data models, match and merge rules, cross reference structures, and integration patterns to support data migration, synchronization, and ongoing integration activities. The architect will collaborate closely with business partners, process excellence teams, project managers, IT, and data teams to build a scalable, automated, and reusable master data integration process that supports future integrations and enterprise data strategy. In addition, the role partners on the target end to end architecture and governance framework with key stakeholders spanning CRUD policies, data ownership, quality controls, lineage, and consumption patterns to ensure master data is consistently managed across Systems of Record (SORs), Systems of Truth (SOTs), integrating platforms, and downstream consumers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and logical data models for Customer and Item domains to support system integration and downstream analytics.
Assess and align Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality capabilities to support both conversion and ongoing integration needs.
Collaborate with the Data Quality Technical Lead to shape, refine, and implement data quality rules and processes.
Integrate MDM with the enterprise data catalog.
Contribute to the data catalog by enriching the business glossary, metadata, lineage, and related documentation.
Review and leverage existing MDM design and development documentation where possible
Review current Data Quality design and implementation, including both MDM and the Data.Gaps tool where possible
Define and implement the end to end solution architecture and governance framework (CRUD) for enterprise master data management and distribution ensuring a consistent target state aligned to business process, systems of record (SOR), systems of truth (SOT), and downstream consumer needs, following data governance and data management best practices.
Design and implement match/merge survivorship rules for Customer (party) and Item (product/SKU) domains, including search before create functionality to meet operational and reporting requirements, leveraging existing tools where possible.
Build crosswalks between legacy identifiers and target system identifiers to support reporting and cutover activities.
Provide MDM governance for CRUD processes to support system integration and ensure data integrity, collaborating closely with the Data Quality Lead
Assess and harmonize Customer and Product hierarchies to enable accurate pricing, reporting, and analytical capabilities.
Provide on the job training, knowledge transfer sessions, documentation, and task delegation for the internal team across technical, functional, and best practice areas.
Identify functional and technical gaps, evaluate tools, and contribute to defining the future MDM capability roadmap.
Collaborate cross functionally to elicit and review business requirements related to master data and to support design, development and delivery of harmonized Master data to support IT systems and reporting
Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment, post production support and defect resolution meeting defined SLAs

Skills
Must Have:
Led at least one full Stibo STEP SaaS implementation for Customer and Product Master as an Architect, including end to end design across data sourcing, modeling, integration, data quality, compliance, governance, data sharing, and delivery
Expert in hierarchy design for Customer, Product, and multi-domain master data
Over 10 years of MDM implementation experience covering data quality, master data modeling, MDM implementation styles, governance models, stewardship workflows, and operationalization
Deep experience with match, trust, survivorship, and unmerge rules, including stewardship features and approval workflows
Skilled in Elastic Search integration, workflow design, and orchestration of upstream and downstream system integration
Experience integrating external services such as Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) and Loqate
Strong proficiency in Stibo administration, including data modeling, workflow configuration, business rules, WebUI, and DaaS
Expertise across both MDM and PIM capabilities within Stibo STEP
Hands on technical experience with JavaScript and REST APIs
Deep understanding of Data Governance practices and frameworks, including Master data governance and data quality best practices

Good to Have:
M&A integration experience, including data consolidation and harmonization
Hands on Boomi MDH and integration experience
Worked within IT ecosystems leveraging JDE (JD Edwards)
Strong experience working within the Oracle JDE ecosystem

KPIs:
100% of master data consolidated for both initial integration and ongoing synchronization, including complete cross reference mappings
Post go live master data issues account for less than 1% of total integration defects
Defect resolution turnaround time consistently meets defined business SLAs
