Summary

Job Title: Databricks Administrator / SME
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Administrator / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to manage, optimize, and support Databricks environments while contributing to modern cloud-based data engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Databricks administration, AWS data services, and scalable data platform design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, optimize, and support Databricks environments.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and modern cloud data platforms.
  • Work extensively with AWS services including S3, IAM, Glue, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Manage and optimize relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Develop automation and data engineering solutions using Python, SQL, and/or Scala.
  • Implement cloud security, governance, monitoring, and performance optimization best practices.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks administration and platform management.
  • Solid experience in data engineering using AWS services.
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other relational/NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and/or Scala.
  • Good understanding of cloud security, governance, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Snowflake is a plus, but not required.
