Senior Systems Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Raleigh, NC that is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems and application software, as appropriate
* Diagnose and resolve problems affecting desktop PCs, servers, Linux systems, Kubernetes environments, and networks. Respond to support calls in a fast, effective, and courteous manner, whether during business hours or when on call
* Perform the collection, analysis, and reporting of data for use in maintenance, performance tuning, and capacity planning
* Create and maintain working environments for the information systems, including development, test, stage, production, and Kubernetes-based environments
* Develop and maintain PowerShell or Bash scripts to automate routine administration, monitoring, and deployment tasks
* Assist IS staff with capacity planning and business continuity planning as needed
* Track IS inventory and order new hardware and software as needed
* Maintain knowledge of the latest computer, Linux, scripting, and container technologies
* Provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced engineering staff
* Provide end-user support and monitor key systems, including periodic after business hours support
* Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects as a member of the Infrastructure team

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience is required
* A minimum of 10 years of experience supporting PCs running the MS Windows operating system
* A minimum of 8 years of experience managing servers running MS Windows and/or Linux operating systems
* Experience administering Linux server environments in production settings
* Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell or Bash
* Good understanding of software development principles as it applies to creating and supporting information systems environments and installations
* Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Active Directory
* Cloud infrastructure and IT security

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
