Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced SRE Function Lead to build and establish an SRE function within a dynamic engineering organization. This role will be responsible for defining the SRE strategy, operating model, team structure, engineering standards, and engagement model while developing a high-performing SRE organization.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in SRE, production engineering, infrastructure, observability, and technical team leadership, along with a proven ability to establish SRE practices from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the SRE vision, charter, operating model, and engagement model.

  • Develop and execute a roadmap for establishing and scaling the SRE function.

  • Recruit, onboard, manage, coach, and retain SRE engineers.

  • Build a team with the appropriate balance of software engineering, infrastructure, observability, and production engineering expertise.

  • Define SRE competencies, career paths, team objectives, and coverage expectations.

  • Establish engineering standards, operational practices, and reliability objectives.

  • Define clear roles and boundaries between SRE and application development teams.

  • Promote reliability, scalability, availability, performance, and operational excellence across engineering teams.

  • Partner with engineering and technology stakeholders to establish effective SRE engagement practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant technology/engineering experience.

  • Strong hands-on and leadership experience in Site Reliability Engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing or scaling an SRE function.

  • Experience defining SRE strategies, operating models, and engagement models.

  • Strong background in production engineering, infrastructure, and observability.

  • Proven ability to recruit, lead, coach, and develop technical engineering teams.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to establish engineering standards and operational best practices.
