Training Specialist Manufacturing Time & Attendance (Workforce Software)
Contract / Project-based | Extensive Travel (U.S. & Canada manufacturing sites)
Position Overview
We are seeking Training Specialists to support a large-scale rollout of a time and attendance software solution across unionized manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada. The primary audience is manufacturing management supervisors. As a secondary objective, trainers may support limited, structured sessions for union-represented hourly employees, coordinated with plant leadership and labor relations expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person, instructor-led training to manufacturing management supervisors on time and attendance processes and system usage.
- Communicate complex concepts in plain language for audiences with varied technical proficiency.
- Maintain a calm, professional facilitation style in direct, fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Travel to FCA US and FCA Canada manufacturing sites to deliver scheduled training sessions; adjust daily schedule to plant operations as needed.
- Capture recurring questions/issues and provide feedback to the project team to improve materials and reduce rework.
- Coordinate closely with Payroll, HR, Operations, and time & attendance SMEs to ensure consistent messaging and training outcomes.
Secondary Training Scope (As Needed)
While the primary focus is supervisory training, Training Specialists may be asked-on a limited and structured basis-to support training or informational sessions for union-represented hourly employees (e.g., UAW, Unifor, ONA, IUOE and similar bargaining units). This support will focus on system awareness and proper usage/time-reporting processes (not policy interpretation or labor agreement content) and will be aligned with local plant protocols and labor environment expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience training adult learners in operational, industrial, or manufacturing settings.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-de-escalation skills; patient and respectful under pressure.
- Comfortable working onsite in active manufacturing facilities and navigating plant access requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively (typical travel up to 90%), including overnight stays (including Kokomo, Indiana region).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Teams) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Preferred Experience (Highest to Lowest)
- Workforce Software experience (Time, Absence, Scheduling modules).
- Time & Attendance systems experience (any major platform) with understanding of pay-impacting concepts (punches, exceptions, approvals, schedules).
- Enterprise software training experience for frontline or supervisory populations.
- Exposure to payroll/timekeeping operations, manufacturing HR, or plant operations.
Onboarding & Ramp Plan
New trainers will be onboarded using a structured, rapid readiness approach:
- Review existing training materials (job aids, slide decks, scripts).
- Observe live training sessions currently being delivered at manufacturing sites (beginning immediately upon onboarding).
- Co-facilitate sessions with an experienced trainer/SME, then transition to independent delivery once ready.
- Receive ongoing coaching and feedback during early deliveries.
Travel & Logistics Expectations
- Extensive travel to U.S. and Canada manufacturing locations; multi-site rotations expected.
- Overnight hotel stays required based on rollout schedule and distance; frequent stays may occur in/around Kokomo, Indiana.
- Occasional early starts/late finishes may be required to align with plant shifts and training schedules.
