Role Overview
The Marketo Technical Lead is a senior technical role focused on designing, building, and leading Marketo-based marketing technology solutions. This position blends deep platform expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring that Marketo environments are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals. The Marketo Technical Lead works across the full marketing technology lifecycle from architecture and integration to hands-on program development. They act as a trusted subject matter expert for clients, guiding developers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring technical excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
- Architect Marketo environments from the ground up, including workspace/partition strategies, folder taxonomies, and governance frameworks.
- Lead solution design for complex implementations such as multi-touch nurture programs, scoring models, lifecycle stage definitions, and Salesforce integration architecture.
Technical Leadership
- Define and enforce technical standards and best practices across client engagements.
- Review and provide feedback on other developers' Marketo builds, smart list logic, data management flows, and integration configurations.
Hands-On Platform Work
- Build and manage Marketo programs for email nurture, event management, webinars, ABM, website forms, scoring, and lifecycle automation.
- Implement lead and account scoring models (behavioral, demographic, etc.).
Integration & Data Management
- Manage systems integration, data integration, and metadata management.
- Ensure scalability, taxonomy, and customer segmentation strategies are in place.
Collaboration & Client Management
- Partner with demand generation, lead nurturing, ABM, and revenue operations teams.
- Serve as a strategic partner to clients, translating business goals into technical solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep proficiency in Adobe Marketo Engage, CRM systems, and related MarTech platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Adobe Experience Manager).
- Expertise in systems integration, architecture design, data management, attribution modeling, and technical troubleshooting.
- Ability to lead IT teams, mentor developers, and ensure project delivery on time and to quality standards.
- Strong understanding of marketing lifecycle programs, segmentation, and scalability needs.
