Data Specialist (Azure Data Factory + PostgreSQL + Power BI)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly hands-on Data Specialist who combines the skills of a Data Engineer and Data Analyst. This role focuses on building data pipelines, analyzing large datasets, and generating actionable insights while working within enterprise data programs.

The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual contributor capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong expertise in Azure data tools, relational databases, and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Integrate and extract data from external and internal data sources (including cross-network and firewall environments)
• Work extensively with PostgreSQL and other relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server)
• Build and manage data layers (Medallion Architecture):
• Raw / Staging Layer
• Transformation Layer
• Serving / Analytics Layer
• Write, optimize, and tune complex SQL queries and stored procedures
• Handle large-scale datasets (TB-level data, millions of rows)
• Improve performance using:
• Query tuning
• Indexing strategies
• Materialized views
• Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
• Create complex filters (date ranges, business units, industries, etc.)
• Deliver dynamic, business-ready insights
• Analyze datasets and derive data-driven insights
• Collaborate with third-party data providers and internal stakeholders
• Troubleshoot data pipeline, connectivity, and infrastructure issues independently

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Azure Data Factory (ADF) – pipeline creation, integration, orchestration
• PostgreSQL (must-have)
• SQL development (advanced queries, stored procedures, performance tuning)
• Power BI (advanced dashboards, filters, reporting)
• Experience working with relational databases
• Ability to work with large datasets (1TB+, millions of records)
• Strong understanding of data pipeline architecture and ETL processes
• Experience handling external data integrations across networks
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills (working with global teams, especially Europe)

Good to Have Skills

• Experience in:
• Data modeling and data architecture design
• Columnar databases
• Building enterprise data frameworks
• Exposure to multiple data sources integration
• Domain knowledge in Finance, Retail, or similar industries
• Experience scaling data platforms

Familiarity with future tools like Databricks (not required currently)
