Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Acquisition Specialist, SME position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.

The ideal candidate will support planning, analysis, and execution of acquisition strategies across the full program lifecycle using the BMC3I Elite platform. This role ensures that acquisition activities-including requirements of development, cost analysis, contract planning, risk management, and lifecycle documentation-are integrated and aligned with enterprise workflows and organizational objectives.

The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of acquisition lifecycle processes with hands-on experience using BMC3I Elite tools to streamline planning, tracking, reporting, and decision-making. This individual works closely with program managers, contracting personnel, technical teams, and leadership to ensure acquisition strategies are sound, data-driven, and compliant with policy.

Key Responsibilities

The Acquisition Specialist, SME will:

  • Support the development, review, and optimization of acquisition strategies and life cycle plans
  • Conduct analyses related to requirements, schedule, cost, risk, and performance across the acquisition life cycle
  • Assist in drafting acquisition documents, including strategies, plans, justifications, and milestone decision materials
  • Utilize BMC3I Elite tools to track acquisition activities, workflows, approvals, documentation, and metrics
  • Maintain data accuracy for acquisition-related records within BMC3I Elite or BMC3I Helix modules
  • Enhance acquisition visibility through dashboards, reporting tools, and automated workflows
  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, finance personnel, and contracting officers to integrate acquisition actions with program priorities
  • Support configuration control, change management, and milestone readiness reviews
  • Prepare acquisition briefs, decision-support materials, and status updates for leadership
  • Ensure acquisition activities align with applicable policies, processes, and lifecycle frameworks (DoD, FAR, DFARS, or enterprise-specific)
  • Monitor contract performance data, procurement actions, and documentation for compliance
  • Identify risks and recommend actions to support cost, schedule, and performance objectives
  • Use BMC3I Elite capabilities to streamline acquisition workflows and improve documentation and reporting efficiency
  • Recommend enhancements to lifecycle processes, governance models, and data management practices


Responsibilities

Skills & Experience

The Acquisition Specialist, SME must have:

  • Active TS/SCI with SAP Access
  • 15+ years of experience in acquisition analysis, program support, lifecycle management, or related fields
  • Experience with BMC3I Elite, BMC3I Helix, or comparable enterprise platforms supporting acquisition or program lifecycle workflows
  • Strong understanding of acquisition lifecycle management, procurement planning, and contract processes
  • Ability to perform cost, schedule, risk, and performance analyses
  • Proficiency in developing acquisition documentation and milestone materials
  • Knowledge of workflow automation, dashboards, and data reporting tools
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, DoD 5000 series, or other acquisition frameworks (if applicable)
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex technical and financial data
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced acquisition or program environments


Education & Certifications

The Acquisition Specialist, SME must meet the following:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in, Business Administration, Acquisition & Contract Management, Systems Engineering, Program Management, Finance, or related field


Preferred

  • Master's degree (MBA, MPA, MS in Acquisition/Program Mgmt, etc.)
  • DAWIA/DAU Certifications (BUS-FM, PM, CON)
  • Defense Acquisition Professional Credentials (DAPC) or equivalent.
  • PMP or PMI-ACP
  • ITIL v4 Foundation (valuable for integrating acquisition processes into ITSM

Security Clearance

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
