Role Overview
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the on-site construction of utility-scale solar projects from Notice-to-Proceed to Commercial Operation Date. This role serves as the primary representative and main point-of-contact for EPC contractors, ensuring the execution of construction work adheres to contractual obligations regarding safety, quality, schedule, and budget. The position involves coordinating and managing all construction work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site.
Key Responsibilities
- Review agreements, contracts, and permits to verify requirements and compliance with building, environmental, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with development teams to ensure pending tasks are closed out at execution turnover.
- Verify scheduling, delivery, and inventory of owner-supplied materials.
- Attend EPC Contractor Plan-of-Day meetings to review daily activities.
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques per the EPC contract.
- Conduct site audits, participate in safety meetings, and ensure the site safety plan is followed.
- Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project.
- Manage scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, and work in progress.
- Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce.
- Interface with the utility and project off-taker(s) on-site and provide updates on project status.
Required Qualifications
Education: An Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 15+ years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers.
Technical Skills: A strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning. Proficiency with Microsoft Word is required.
Additional Requirements
Driving will be required as part of this position's duties. A valid, non-restricted current driver's license is necessary. The candidate's driving record must show no alcohol/drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years and the license must not be currently suspended or restricted.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $65.00 and $69.81 per hour. Per Diem and Mob/De-Mob expenses are available for this assignment.
