The Systems Engineer will work with the cross-functional team to design, develop, and integrate complex systems for state-of-the-art RF transmitter systems, including tasks such as system architecture, requirements analysis, verification and validation, and overall system integration across various subsystems. This position manages product subsystems with minimal oversight and provides measurable input to products, processes or standards in operational plans to implement both customer & internal required system operation. The Systems Engineer will work closely with the System Architect (the Project Engineer) to support all Systems Engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of the project/program.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of system engineering principles and methodologies
  • Provide systems engineering support for technical teams in the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Systems and Subsystems
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to capture, allocate, create traceability, and verify requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program
  • Support the integration of various subsystems and system testing to verify functionality, including contributions to test plans and procedures in coordination with the Project Engineer
  • Prepare and present relevant material for major technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Conduct technical assessments and make recommendations
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers and management
  • Familiarity with Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) activities including performing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), generating Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) data, and creating Reliability Block Diagrams
  • Provide Reliability Engineering support through analysis of field samples, vendor data, test results and statistical analysis
  • Provide support to Quality and Engineering functions on products moving through the factory
  • Contribute to technical risk management by evaluating design aspects and requirements and suggesting appropriate mitigations
  • Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system reliability, availability, and maintainability and promote commonality
  • Experience with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to develop and implement support plans for system availability, field support and spare parts management.
  • Ability to perform detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem and determine appropriate resolution
  • Lead Interface Control Document development and documentation
  • Knowledge of military standards and regulations
  • Integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces
  • When operating within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment, work with the development team to manage to the unique demands and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a liaison between functional engineering disciplines and manufacturing

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent with 8 years of experience with systems installation, integration and test in the defense industry
  • Problem-solving and lab debugging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with peers and IPT collaboration
  • Some travel will be required. (10-20%, depending on phase of the project assigned)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Control Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value (EV)
  • Able to create and maintain technical development schedules to support manufacturing timelines
  • Familiarity with VLF, HF or other RF systems
  • Previous experience with systems engineering tools like Cameo Requirements Modeler, SysML, DOORS, and MATLAB

Work Environment

Most work is performed in an office environment. Some work may take place in our engineering lab or test environment.

Pay may range from $107,000 to $154,000 annually

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
