Summary

Senior Site Reliability Engineer


Location: Charlotte, NC (1525 W W T Harris Blvd)
Work Model: Hybrid 3 days onsite (mandatory, set days may change monthly)
Duration: 18-month contract (strong possibility of extension)

Overview


We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support mission-critical banking applications within a large enterprise financial environment. This role blends software engineering principles with operational excellence to improve reliability, automation, observability, and overall platform performance.

This position is part of a global SRE organization (18 members globally, 8 in the U.S.) and will focus more heavily on SRE engineering than application support, though both are required.



Key Responsibilities




  • Define and manage SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets with key stakeholders


  • Build and enhance observability, telemetry, and monitoring capabilities


  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce operational toil


  • Lead production readiness activities (NFRs, Permit to Operate)


  • Provide high-level application support for critical systems


  • Proactively prevent incidents through preventative troubleshooting and architectural improvements


  • Influence middle and senior leadership through strong communication and technical credibility




Required Qualifications




  • 2+ years of senior-level SRE experience


  • 2+ years working with AutoSys and Oracle


  • 2+ years supporting applications on Kubernetes and/or OpenShift


  • Experience supporting environments in Google Cloud Platform


  • Strong knowledge of observability tools:



    • AppDynamics


    • ThousandEyes


    • Aternity



  • Database knowledge


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Experience in financial services or banking environments preferred




Environment & Expectations




  • Highly regulated financial services environment


  • Combination of individual contributor work and team collaboration


  • Rotational support every 4 5 weeks (weekend or 5 9 PM shift; still 40-hour work week)


  • Must be comfortable speaking in depth about prior technical experience

  • Strong automation mindset


  • Able to architect preventative solutions, not just react to incidents


  • Confident communicator capable of influencing stakeholders


  • Comfortable working hybrid in Charlotte
