Senior MercuryGate TMS Functional Developer

Role Summary

We are seeking a versatile MercuryGate TMS Specialist who possesses a strong blend of functional expertise and technical development skills. This role is critical for a high-priority logistics transformation project where you will be responsible for customizing, configuring, and enhancing the MercuryGate Transportation Management System (TMS) to meet evolving business requirements.

The ideal candidate will act as a "Technical Functional" resource, capable of discussing transportation workflows with business stakeholders and immediately translating those needs into system changes and code-based customizations.

Core Responsibilities

• Workflow Configuration: Design and implement complex workflow logic within MercuryGate to automate shipment lifecycle management.

• Technical Enhancements: Develop and maintain custom scripts, business rules, and interface logic to extend the platform’s native capabilities.

• Integration Management: Support the integration of MercuryGate with external ERPs (SAP, Oracle), WMS, and carrier networks via EDI and API.

• Business Liaison: Lead discovery sessions to understand logistics pain points across procurement, execution, and freight settlement.

• Current State Assessment: Document existing TMS configurations and identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.

• Functional Specs: Create detailed functional and technical specification documents for new enhancements.

• UAT Leadership: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for all MercuryGate changes, ensuring zero disruption to daily logistics operations.

• Troubleshooting: Act as the Tier 3 support for complex system issues, performance bottlenecks, and carrier integration failures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Industry Expertise: 5+ years of experience in the Logistics/Transportation domain with a deep understanding of Freight Brokerage, 3PL, or Shipper workflows.

• MercuryGate Mastery: Hands-on experience with MercuryGate TMS configuration, including:

  • Advanced Workflow Engine

  • Rating Engine & Contract Management

  • Freight Settlement & Audit

  • MercuryGate "Edge" or newer interface customizations

• Technical Proficiencies: * Strong experience with SQL (for data analysis and reporting).

  • Familiarity with XML, XSLT, or JavaScript for system-level customizations.

  • Experience with EDI standards (204, 214, 210, 990).

• Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between "Logistics Speak" and "Tech Speak," effectively communicating with both dispatchers and developers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MercuryGate implementation or version upgrades.

• Knowledge of other TMS platforms (e.g., OTM, Blue Yonder) for comparison and migration logic.

• Relevant certifications in Supply Chain Management (CSCP or similar).
