The Business Analyst will play a key role in driving data-driven decision-making and operational excellence across business functions. This role involves deep data exploration, report generation, and insight delivery through tools like Power BI, while closely collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable solutions. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with a get things done attitude, a bias to action, and a genuine enthusiasm for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to enhance business insight and efficiency.
Experience in the residential or commercial mortgage industry will be considered an added advantage, helping the analyst better understand and interpret sector-specific data and business processes.
Responsibilities & Duties
Collect and analyze business requirements by engaging with key stakeholders through interviews, workshops, surveys, and process walkthroughs to fully understand business objectives, challenges, and data needs.
Document and formalize requirements using clear, structured, and standardized templates ensuring they are simple, unambiguous, and easily understood. Where appropriate, represent requirements through process diagrams, models, or prototypes to facilitate alignment and clarity.
Conduct detailed data exploration and validation to identify key insights, trends, and opportunities.
Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs and support strategic decisions.
Translate complex data findings into compelling narratives and actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences.
Manage stakeholder expectations effectively, ensuring timely communication, delivery, and follow-ups.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and governance across all analytics assets.
Stay current with AI, data visualization, and analytics innovations, evaluating tools that can enhance reporting accuracy and speed.
Identify process inefficiencies and recommend data-driven improvements.
Continuously enhance reporting efficiency and decision-making processes.
Required Experience, Skills, & Competencies
5 or more years of subject matter experience with residential and commercial mortgage areas.
8 13 years of experience in a Business Analyst or similar data-focused role.
Education: Bachelor s degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Proven expertise in Power BI dashboard/report development and SQL (DAX experience preferred).
Proficiency with AI, machine learning, or data automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, Document Intelligence).
Strong skills in data analysis, modeling, and visualization with a focus on actionable insights.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
Familiarity with data governance, quality standards, and best practices in data storytelling.
Demonstrates a bias to action, ownership mindset, and ability to deliver results in dynamic environments.
