Turns the approved reference architecture into working patterns, runs the deployment review gate, and co-authors the operating model with the analytics lead.
Responsibilities
Own the implementation design across all 37 components, and the decisions on the 3 conditional ones (Private Link, on-prem gateway, APIM)
Build and publish the design pattern library: ingestion, medallion, DQ rules, naming, pipeline and notebook templates, ADR log
Design and run the deployment review gate: PR checklist, promotion rules, rollback
Lead the IEDR migration approach, including parallel-run and cutover criteria
Draft the operating model: platform vs. domain RACI, support tiers, onboarding, criteria for returning to ARB
Represent the design at EA, ARB, Cyber and Cloud Services reviews
Hard skills
8+ years in data architecture, with 2+ years on Microsoft Fabric or Synapse/Power BI Premium at enterprise scale
Deep knowledge of OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Eventhouse and Direct Lake
Fabric security and networking: Entra ID, workspace identity, trusted workspace access, managed private endpoints, Private Link trade-offs
Fabric Git integration and deployment pipelines; medallion design and Delta Lake
Purview integration for catalog, lineage and classification
Writes ADRs and reference architectures that pass formal review; regulated industry experience preferred
Certifications highly preferred
Soft skills
Explains trade-offs plainly to architects, cyber and executives
Teaches as they go, so staff can maintain the patterns after handover
Excellent Communication Skills is a must
