Job Description: Varicent Tech Lead

Location: Remote

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Varicent Tech Lead to architect, configure, and optimize Varicent Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) solutions. This role is responsible for leading the design and development of Varicent models, managing data pipelines, and delivering accurate and scalable compensation plans. The ideal candidate will bring deep Varicent platform expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with business and IT stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Varicent Platform Development
  • Lead configuration and development within the Varicent platform using Composer, Reports Studio, and Web Admin tools.
  • Translate complex business requirements into functional Varicent solutions, including data models, workflows, calculations, dashboards, and reporting structures.
  • Configure and manage compensation plans, quotas, crediting rules, incentive structures, and payout logic.


2. Data Modeling & ETL
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines to support Varicent data flows.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all Varicent modules.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize data ingestion and transformation processes.


3. Reporting & Performance Insights
  • Develop and publish interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics for compensation insights and performance monitoring.
  • Enhance reporting capabilities to support sales leadership, finance, and operations stakeholders.


4. System Support & Enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, provide end-user support, and address data or calculation anomalies.
  • Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and new feature rollouts.
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and performance tuning as needed.


5. Documentation & Collaboration
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including configuration guides, design specs, data flow diagrams, and change logs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Professional Services, IT, Sales Ops, and Finance to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and provide mentoring to junior team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Varicent Composer, Reports Studio, Web Admin, and Varicent ICM architecture.
  • Deep understanding of incentive compensation design, sales crediting, and quota management.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL processes and working with SQL-based data sources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, efficient Varicent models.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.


Preferred Skills
  • Experience leading Varicent implementations in enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of sales compensation strategies and incentive governance.
  • Understanding of cloud-based systems and data integrations.
