IT Project Manager to lead multiple initiatives focused on enhancing a recently implemented
fare collection system across bus and light rail services.
This role will oversee a combination of
short-term operational improvements and
strategic enhancement projects, with a focus on improving system performance, expanding payment capabilities, strengthening data reporting, and elevating the overall rider experience.
The IT Project Manager will work within a
multi-agency environment, coordinating across internal teams, external partners, and regional stakeholders—requiring strong communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage multiple IT projects related to fare collection system enhancements
- Oversee both operational issue remediation efforts and larger-scale system improvements
- Drive initiatives related to:
- Payment system enhancements and additional payment options
- Data collection, reporting, and analytics improvements
- Customer-facing improvements to enhance rider experience
- Coordinate effectively across multiple organizations and stakeholders
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Manage vendor relationships and hold partners accountable for deliverables
- Utilize project management tools to track progress, risks, and milestones
- Provide clear, consistent communication to leadership and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of experience serving as the lead or sole IT Project Manager
- Proven experience managing projects with budgets of $5M or greater
- Strong background in software implementation projects
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on schedule
- Experience with vendor management and coordination
- Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications- PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification
- Experience with payment systems, particularly payment card processing
- Prior experience managing IT projects in a public transit environment
Engagement Details- Duration: Minimum of 12 months
- Location: Hybrid (must be based in the Greater Phoenix area)
