Location: Dallas, Texas (Mostly remote but requires 1 week onsite each quarter for PI Planning)

Schedule: M-F 8-5

Length: 12+ Month W2 Contract.

Role Overview

This position requires a candidate to serve as a thought leader for technical business processes and software delivery initiatives. The role involves partnering closely with product, development, QA, and business teams to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions. The successful candidate will leverage strong Jira expertise to manage requirements, user stories, workflows, testing activities, and release readiness across Agile development environments. This individual will drive awareness of requirements across business units, identify process improvement opportunities through data analysis, and ensure successful delivery of technology solutions from concept through production deployment.

This is a highly technical Business Analyst role. Candidates must have advanced Jira experience and a proven track record supporting Agile software development, QA testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production release activities while working directly with engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with stakeholders across business units, software development teams, QA teams, and product owners to develop requirements, analyses, and technical documentation.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Maintain and manage Jira boards, workflows, dashboards, filters, epics, stories, tasks, and defects to support Agile project delivery.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis.
  • Conduct gap analyses and identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, user acceptance testing (UAT), and release activities.
  • Support QA and testing efforts by defining test scenarios, validating requirements, reviewing test results, and ensuring traceability between requirements and delivered functionality.
  • Perform and communicate quality assurance activities throughout all stages of development, testing, and deployment.
  • Author and maintain business requirements documents, process documentation, release notes, and technical specifications.
  • Analyze production issues and partner with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve system defects.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external partners to ensure successful systems integration and delivery.
Required Qualifications

Experience:
  • Five or more years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or related role supporting software development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments and partnering directly with engineering and QA teams.
  • Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, implementation, and post-production support.

Technical Skills:
  • Advanced Jira expertise required, including administration of boards, workflow management, backlog grooming, sprint tracking, reporting, dashboard creation, defect management, and requirements traceability.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, SDLC processes, release management, and software testing practices.
  • Experience creating detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with development, QA, UAT, and production environments, including deployment and release processes.
  • Experience with Accessibility standards and testing.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex technical systems.

Communication Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience working with developers, QA engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams in enterprise software environments.
  • Experience with test management tools such as Zephyr, Xray, TestRail, or similar Jira-integrated testing platforms.
  • Knowledge of API integrations, system interfaces, and data flow concepts.
  • Extensive experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
  • High proficiency in technical writing and software documentation.
