Summary

We’re seeking a versatile and motivated Field Service Technician with experience in Audio Visual (AV) systems, Access Control, and Security Camera (CCTV) installations and support. This role involves traveling to client sites to troubleshoot, maintain, and support a wide range of integrated technology systems across commercial, educational, and enterprise environments. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional technical team. Technical Skills & Knowledge

·         AV Systems

o    Diagnose and repair audio DSP systems, amplifiers & speakers, video displays & projectors, control systems & touch panels, video conferencing systems (e.g. Teams Room kits)

o    Replace and reconfigure failed or malfunctioning equipment; communicate with manufacturer tech support

o    Update firmware and system configurations

o    Perform preventative maintenance and system checks on installed systems

o    Read and interpret blueprints, signal flow diagrams, and schematics

·         Networking, Video, Audio, & Control

o    Basic IP networking (Static vs DHCP, VLAN awareness, IP conflicts)

o    Video-over-IP requirements (IGMP snooping, QoS, jumbo frames)

o    PoE power budgets and classes

o    HDMI and HDBaseT video systems (e.g. EDID, HDCP)

o    Other AV signals, uses, and limitations (SDI, USB, balanced and unbalanced audio, speaker signals)

o    Troubleshoot device communication issues

o    Make programming adjustments when needed (e.g. Q-SYS, Crestron)

·         Cabling & Hardware

o    Repair and re-terminate Cat 6, BNC, speaker wire, euroblock connectors

o    Test cabling and endpoints

o    Maintain rack integrity and labeling

o    Identify and document poor installation practices

·         Assist with project work as needed, including installation of AV racks, displays, control systems, access control panels, and security cameras

·         Experience with security cameras or access control systems beneficial

 

Problem-Solving & Communication Skills

·         Communicate clearly with clients and end users; explain issues in non-technical terms

·         Document findings and corrective actions; provide clear service reports and time tracking

·         Diagnose root cause, not just symptoms

·         Determine whether issue is hardware, programming, network, or user error

·         Escalate appropriately when engineering support is required

·         Manage multiple service calls per day efficiently

 

Education, Certifications, & Experience

·         3–5+ years of AV or low-voltage field experience in commercial environments

·         High school diploma or equivalent (technical training beneficial)

·         BA/BS degree in a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience preferred

·         Manufacturer certifications preferred (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, etc.)

·         AVIXA CTS certification preferred

·         QSC Q-SYS Level 0 and Level 1 preferred

·         Dante Level 1 and 2 preferred

·         Beneficial: Crestron Commercial Technician Certification or CTI-P101 Foundations of Crestron Programming Certification

·         Beneficial: Additional certifications or formal training by technology manufacturers such as Biamp, Shure, Yealink, LTS, Comba, Leviton, Legrand

Physical & Other Requirements

·         A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation to work.

·         Ability to lift large items up to 70 pounds, and 50 pounds overhead.

·         Ability to pass a drug test.

·         Comfortable working on ladders and lifts

·         Ability to work in both construction and office environments

·         Ability for full-time work

·         OSHA 10 preferred; OSHA 30 beneficial
