Industrial Electrical Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Pay: $65-$90/hour DOE
Our client, a recognized industry leader and Top Workplace, is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer to support complex industrial and heavy commercial projects in Houston, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for engineers with strong experience in electrical power distribution, motor controls, automation systems, and industrial facility design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical power distribution systems
- Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, load calculations, and equipment sizing documentation
- Specify and support installation of switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, and industrial control equipment
- Provide technical support during engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning phases
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, IEC, and project-specific standards
- Coordinate with mechanical, process, civil, instrumentation, and controls teams throughout project execution
- Review vendor drawings, resolve technical issues, and support project scheduling and reporting
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and client meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5-10+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience
- Experience supporting EPC, design-build, manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, data center, or industrial facility projects
- Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, industrial automation, and electrical protection systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, or related electrical design software
- Understanding of industrial construction and field execution practices
- EIT or PE license preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel occasionally to project or vendor sites
