Role Overview
Our organization is expanding its healthcare and education team to manage a significant increase in project workload. We are seeking two versatile Network Engineers to ensure timely project delivery and network stability. These roles are critical for designing, implementing, and supporting complex network solutions across diverse environments, including rural and remote locations. The ideal candidates will be adaptable engineers who can work effectively on Alaska time and thrive in a technically challenging setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement network solutions utilizing a Nokia core with a Juniper overlay.
- Deliver network services over various transports, including microwave, fiber, and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies like Starlink and OneWeb.
- Develop creative engineering solutions for unique customer deployments in rural areas, addressing environmental and logistical challenges.
- Perform quality control tasks, using checklists and run decks to validate equipment, standards, and configurations.
- Collaborate with design and implementation engineers to identify and resolve issues during the quality control phase.
- Transition to guided and then full implementation of projects, including managing field technicians and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Participate in a structured onboarding program, including a 30-60-90 day plan, mentorship, and lab-based assessments.
Required Qualifications
Experience: This is a level 2 or 3 position requiring a strong foundational understanding of networking principles. Candidates should be versatile and capable of managing primary, secondary, and tertiary routes across different technologies.
Technical Skills:- Strong experience with Juniper and Nokia networking equipment.
- Proficiency in SD-WAN technologies, with a preference for Palo Alto.
- Familiarity with LEO satellite technologies.
- General networking troubleshooting skills are essential.
Work Environment
This is a remote position, but candidates must be able to work effectively during Alaska business hours. The role involves individual project ownership as well as collaboration with the team for training and knowledge sharing. The initial contract term is six months, with the potential for extension up to two years and possible conversion to a full-time employee based on performance and business needs.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $45.00 to $60.00 per hour. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
