Automation Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Automation Engineer in Charlotte, NC.

Summary:
We are seeking an Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automation solutions using Ansible, Python, Bash, and YAML. This role focuses on automating infrastructure and operational workflows, improving reliability, and reducing manual effort across environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in version-controlled environments and understands automation as a discipline-not just scripting.

Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible for configuration management and orchestration
* Develop and support automation scripts using Python and Bash
* Create and maintain YAML-based configuration files and playbooks
* Manage source code using GitLab, following standard branching and version control practices
* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify automation opportunities and eliminate manual processes
* Troubleshoot, enhance, and optimize existing automation workflows
* Document automation processes and ensure solutions are maintainable and reusable

REQUIREMENTS:
* Proven experience as an Automation Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role
* Strong hands-on experience with Ansible in production environments
* Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
* Solid understanding of YAML for configuration and automation use cases
* Experience working with GitLab for source control and collaboration
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team

Preferred Skills:
* Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines
* Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts
* Hands-on experience with Terraform
* Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments
* Experience supporting production systems with high availability requirements

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
