Job Description:

Position Summary

The Server Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability, performance, and security of the organization's server and storage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. This role ensures stable business operations by managing enterprise server platforms, virtualization environments, storage systems, and cloud-based file services. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in server administration, storage management (NFS/NAS), and cloud file share technologies, along with a proactive approach to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Server & Infrastructure Management

  • Administer and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments.
  • Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi and Nutanix.
  • Perform server provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of production environments.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.

Storage & File Share Management

  • Manage and support NFS and NAS-based storage environments.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network-attached storage systems.
  • Monitor storage utilization, performance, and capacity trends.
  • Implement storage optimization and enforce appropriate access controls.
  • Support backup integrations and data protection strategies for file shares.
  • Manage and support cloud-based file share environments.
  • Administer user access, policies, quotas, and synchronization for cloud platforms.
  • Troubleshoot file share performance, replication, and access-related issues across on-premises and cloud environments.

Incident & Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents within defined SLA timelines.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support production systems with minimal downtime and service disruption.
  • Maintain accurate incident documentation in ITSM tools.

Change & Maintenance Activities

  • Plan and execute infrastructure changes including patching, firmware upgrades, storage configuration changes, and system updates.
  • Ensure changes are implemented in line with established governance processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments prior to executing critical infrastructure updates.

Cloud & Hybrid Environment Support

  • Support hybrid infrastructure environments integrating on-premises servers with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Assist with workload migrations and cloud optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure seamless connectivity and data access between on-premises storage and cloud file services.

Security & Compliance

  • Perform vulnerability remediation and infrastructure hardening.
  • Implement access controls, permissions management, and security best practices for servers and storage systems.
  • Support audit requirements by maintaining documentation and configuration standards.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and testing.
  • Ensure server and storage systems align with defined RTO and RPO requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for recovery procedures and storage replication mechanisms.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise server and infrastructure operations.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and/or Nutanix environments.
  • Strong experience managing NFS and NAS storage environments.
  • Experience with storage capacity planning and performance monitoring.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based file share platforms.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, OS, and virtualization layers.
  • Good understanding of ITIL-based Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.

Preferred Certifications

  • VMware Certification (e.g., VCP)
  • AWS Certification
  • Microsoft or Linux Certification
  • ITIL Certification
  • Storage-related certifications (optional but desirable)
