Google Cloud Platform Platform Engineer

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technology-focused Senior Full Stack Java Developer with strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), microservices, and cloud-native application development. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, deployment, and support of platforms, APIs, and cloud-based services while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support platforms, APIs, microservices, and cloud-based services.
Gather and analyze business and technical requirements through collaborative sessions.
Develop Spring Boot and Java-based APIs and microservices on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
Utilize Google Cloud Platform services including Cloud Run, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, GKE, and related cloud-native technologies.
Perform software development using Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Work within Agile and Kanban software development methodologies.
Collaborate with team members to establish engineering best practices and reduce delivery risks.
Partner with product managers to define solutions and break requirements into production-ready user stories.
Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and improve existing solutions.
Refactor APIs and microservices to improve performance, maintainability, and efficiency.
Execute API load and performance testing.
Develop software aligned with clean code principles and quality standards.
Participate in integration testing, issue triage, and end-to-end solution delivery.
Utilize DevOps and automation tools to deploy, manage, and improve software delivery processes.
Contribute to technical direction while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in cloud-based software engineering roles.
Strong experience with Java (11/17/21), Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Experience with Maven and/or Gradle.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
Experience with Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Pub/Sub, and related Google Cloud Platform services.
Experience developing and supporting microservices-based architectures.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Cloud Build, or similar tools.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Helm.
Knowledge of deployment strategies including Blue/Green, Canary, and Rolling Deployments.
Experience with API technologies including REST, JSON, Swagger, Postman, API Gateway, and Apigee.
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
Knowledge of Anthos, Anthos Service Mesh, Istio, and service mesh concepts.
Experience implementing security controls including IAM, mTLS, privileged access management, and secret management solutions.
Experience with automated testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, Pact, Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Cloud Trace, Dynatrace, Datadog, or AppDynamics.
Experience supporting mission-critical applications in highly available environments.
Understanding of cloud security and system integration best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Master s degree in a relevant field.
Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native solutions.
Experience with API-driven system integrations and data exchange.
Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems.
Experience with ServiceNow and IT service management processes.
