Senior Network Engineer (Contingent Assignment)

Locations: Charlotte, NC (Brevard) Chandler, AZ Las Colinas, TX
Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week
Schedule: 8-hour shift; ability to work some nights and weekends required

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the data center network infrastructure initiatives. In this role, you will design, implement, migrate, and decommission routers and switches within large-scale enterprise environments. You will partner with engineering and implementation teams to deliver resilient, scalable network solutions that serve as the foundation for the company's global data center operations.

This position involves consulting on complex technical challenges, analyzing multi-faceted network scenarios, and contributing to high-impact, long-term infrastructure planning. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders and apply deep technical expertise to ensure secure, compliant, and high-performing network environments.
Responsibilities
  • Lead network engineering initiatives supporting data center infrastructure, including implementation, migration, and decommissioning of routers and switches.
  • Evaluate complex, large-scale technical challenges and provide recommendations based on industry best practices.
  • Design and maintain LAN/WAN/Data Center network solutions for large enterprise environments.
  • Configure and support Cisco Nexus and/or Arista switching and routing platforms.
  • Implement overlay networking technologies such as VXLAN.
  • Support lifecycle management of internal network modules, including capacity planning and documentation updates.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of network projects.
  • Follow change control procedures (ServiceNow) and contribute to technical design documents.
  • Occasionally support after-hours or weekend work as needed for major changes or deployments.
Minimum Qualifications

("Must Have")
  • 5+ years of Network Engineering experience (or equivalent combination of experience, training, military background, or education).
  • 5+ years of experience configuring routing and switching platforms-Cisco Nexus and/or Arista.
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies including VXLAN overlay networking.
  • 5+ years of experience working with IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP) in large enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years of experience designing LAN/WAN/Data Center network solutions for large-scale organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP/DP, or CCIE (Data Center preferred).
  • Strong understanding of QoS configurations supporting enterprise environments.
  • Expertise with Cisco and Arista routers/switches.
  • Deep knowledge of Layer 2 switching protocols: Spanning Tree, Trunking, EtherChannel.
  • Strong understanding of MLAG, EVPN, CVP, Multicast, HSRP, CBWFQ, DSCP, NAT/SNAT, TCP/IP, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with DNS/domain services.
  • Familiarity with Python, Ansible, and GitHub for automation.
  • Experience with change management tools (ServiceNow).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience creating/updating technical design documentation for engineering teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio Professional.
  • Experience working in Agile environments using Jira.
  • Background in large financial services environments.
