Summary:
The Control Design and Development Engineer will be responsible for researching, developing, testing, and validating advanced control systems, diagnostics, and optimization algorithms for future power system products. The role involves software development, control algorithm design, SIL/HIL simulation, machine validation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative technologies supporting next-generation powertrain and energy solutions.

Responsibilities

Develop and enhance control algorithms and embedded software.
Perform SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulations.
Validate control systems on machines and test platforms.
Participate in daily team standups and technical reviews.
Develop, review, release, and maintain control models.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Analyze system performance and troubleshoot software/control issues.

Qualifications

MS in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of industry experience.
PhD preferred.
Bachelor''s degree alone is not sufficient.
Strong expertise in MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, Simscape Power Systems, and co-simulation environments.
Deep understanding of control theory, including:
PID control
Linear control systems
Adaptive control
Sliding mode/variable structure control
Neural networks and fuzzy logic-based control
Experience with embedded software development on real-time operating systems and/or Linux-based platforms.
Software debugging using Lauterbach, CANape, CANalyzer, or similar tools.
Version control experience using Git/Ivy.
Programming experience in Python, Java, JavaScript, C, and C++.

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Generator controls and operation expertise.
Hybrid energy plant controls with renewable energy integration.
Engine controls experience.
Experience with software development and service tools.
Strong troubleshooting and system integration capabilities.
Demonstrated collaboration and leadership skills.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $44.00 - $45.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
