Imagine what you could do here. Apple has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Web Accessibility Engineer to join our Online Store Frontend Team. You'll bring validated experience in web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, coupled with your expertise in Accessibility. You consider accessibility a basic human right and want to work somewhere everyone shares that belief. The role involves working with multiple teams at a time on a variety of exciting projects, and you'll be responsible for ensuring the best output from each.

Description

E-commerce sites are notoriously complex to run, and thanks to the Apple Online Store's unique design requirements, focus on privacy and security, and sheer scale, our site is no exception. If you have a fresh pair of eyes and want to make a real difference on the key entry point for the entire Apple ecosystem, we'd love to talk to you.

We're looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual who can act as a technical accessibility expert. You'll audit new and existing internal and external solutions, work with teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a project on new features and solutions, liaise and coordinate with various functions, and represent the team positively and effectively at all times. You'll be a pragmatic and trustworthy individual, able to promote the best results while nurturing positive relationships with everyone you work with.

Previous industry experience with an emphasis on accessibility would be an advantage.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.x guidelines and WAI-ARIA

Knowledge and practical experience of implementing technical accessibility requirements

In-depth knowledge and practical experience of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to provide accessible code solutions using web technologies

Ability to provide accessibility requirements for reusable components within a design system

Experience in software engineering

Excellent knowledge and understanding of macOS and iOS VoiceOver and other accessibility features

Strong first-hand experience testing with assistive technologies (including screen readers such as VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA)

Experience reviewing designs and copy for accessibility

Familiarity with accessibility features on mobile devices

Experience using AI to strategically enhance accessibility implementations, validations, and features
