Onboarding Support Specialist
We are seeking an Onboarding Support Specialist with strong macOS expertise to ensure a smooth technology onboarding experience for new hires.
This role focuses on preparing and supporting new employees laptops (MacBook Pros and Windows PCs) for use in the customer IT environment.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in device setup, troubleshooting, and remote support, and will be flexible to work in different shifts as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Hire Laptop Setup: Coordinate the onboarding of new employees using their existing laptops (MacBook Pros and Windows PCs) from previous organizations.
- Prepare and configure each device to work securely and efficiently within the customer infrastructure.
- Device Enrollment & Configuration: Enroll laptops into VMware AirWatch (Workspace ONE) or similar mobile device management platforms.
- Deploy and configure customer-specific applications and settings using automated deployment tools, ensuring each system is fully set up and compliant.
- OS Reinstallation & Troubleshooting: Reinstall or reimage operating systems (with a strong focus on macOS, as well as Windows) when necessary to resolve configuration issues.
- Re-enroll devices in management systems after reimaging and verify that all hardware and software components function correctly.
Remote Support: Provide prompt remote support and guidance to new hires during their setup process. Use tools like Bomgar, Microsoft Teams, and Slack to troubleshoot issues, answer questions, and walk employees through technical steps, delivering a positive onboarding experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Expertise in macOS: Proven experience with macOS setup, configuration, and troubleshooting (MacBook hardware and macOS software support).
- Familiarity with Windows 10/11 support is also required.
- MDM Proficiency: Hands-on experience with device management and deployment tools, especially Workspace ONE, for enrolling devices and pushing configurations.
- Remote Support Tools: Proficiency in using remote assistance tools (e.g., Bomgar or similar remote desktop tools, Teams/Slack for communication) to support users in a distributed environment.
Technical Troubleshooting:
- Strong problem-solving skills in diagnosing and fixing OS installation issues, network configuration problems, and application setup errors.
- Ability to reimage computers and perform system recoveries when needed. Shift Flexibility:
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts or outside standard hours as required, to accommodate new hires in various time zones and ensure support coverage.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively guide non-technical users through technical processes and provide clear documentation or instructions as part of the onboarding support.
