This role involves the creation and maintenance of technical documentation and web-based enablement content for BI platforms and data virtualization. The position requires translating complex engineering and platform processes into clear, structured, and reusable content such as runbooks, SOPs, how-to guides, and training modules. The successful candidate will partner with engineers, analysts, and platform owners to document and publish knowledge to an internal documentation and training site.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, runbooks, how-to guides, process flows, and operational playbooks for BI platforms and data virtualization.
- Document end-to-end workflows, covering request, intake, build, validation, deployment, and support.
- Develop troubleshooting guides detailing symptoms, diagnosis steps, resolution, and prevention.
- Maintain a structured knowledge base with consistent templates, naming conventions, tagging, and version history.
- Build web-based training modules with learning objectives, examples, and knowledge checks.
- Convert engineering knowledge into learnable content, including short explanations, visuals, and step-by-step labs.
- Establish and own documentation standards, including templates, tone, style guide, and review workflows.
- Conduct interviews and working sessions with subject matter experts to capture processes accurately.
- Coordinate document reviews and approvals with platform owners, engineering, and governance teams.
- Utilize AI-assisted authoring tools to accelerate the drafting of outlines, rewrites, and summaries while ensuring accuracy.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3-7 years in technical writing, enablement, documentation, or knowledge management, with a proven ability to document complex technical workflows end-to-end.
Technical Skills: Candidates should be comfortable with data concepts such as datasets, SQL basics, pipelines, semantic models, KPIs, and dashboards. Experience writing for both technical and business audiences is required, along with strong editing skills focused on clarity, structure, and consistency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting BI or analytics platforms and/or data virtualization.
- Familiarity with documentation tooling such as Confluence, SharePoint, Git-based documentation, Markdown, and static site generators.
- Instructional design experience, including creating learning objectives, assessments, and progressive skill-building content.
- Experience producing visuals like diagrams, process flows, or architecture charts using tools such as Visio, Figma, or Lucidchart.
