The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and delivering
high-quality, scalable engineering solutions that enhance developer experience and accelerate enterprise delivery across the Chief Development Office (CDO). This role partners closely with product owners, platform teams, and engineering leadership to analyze requirements, influence architectural patterns, and execute modernization initiatives. The engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating strategically to ensure solutions align with architectural standards, quality expectations, and compliance requirements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Technical Analysis & Problem Solving
- Analyze requirements for developer enablement frameworks, tools, and platform capabilities
- Evaluate existing systems and constraints to recommend clear, actionable solutions
- Apply strong analytical and diagnostic skills to guide technical decisions
Solution & Feature Design
- Contribute to the design and prototyping of platform features and reusable capabilities
- Build proofs of concept, assess feasibility, and identify risks early
- Ensure solutions align with CDO architectural standards and modern design patterns
Engineering Execution & Delivery
- Break down complex engineering initiatives into iterative, value-driven deliverables
- Deliver production-ready, high-quality code
- Design solutions that are resilient, scalable, high-performing, and reliable
- Proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks
- Operate autonomously while escalating cross-cutting architectural concerns when appropriate
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with product owners to refine scope, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers to apply and evolve common engineering patterns
- Participate in demos, feedback cycles, and adoption support activities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across workstreams
- Communicate effectively across engineering and product teams
