Senior Power BI Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer with 12+ years of overall IT experience and extensive expertise in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-level Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Power BI, SQL, data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and cloud-based analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
• Develop complex DAX calculations, measures, KPIs, and advanced data models.
• Create and optimize Power Query (M Language) transformations.
• Build and maintain semantic models, datasets, and dataflows.
• Integrate data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Azure, Snowflake, Oracle, APIs, and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and leadership teams to deliver analytics solutions.
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and governance best practices.
• Monitor and optimize report performance, dataset refreshes, and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for data ingestion and transformation.
• Support Power BI Service administration, workspace management, deployment pipelines, and capacity management.
• Mentor junior developers and establish BI development standards and best practices.
• Participate in architecture discussions and recommend scalable reporting solutions.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of IT experience with 6+ years of hands-on Power BI development.
• Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Report Builder, and Paginated Reports.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M Language), and Tabular Data Modeling.
• Extensive experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts including Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.
• Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar modern data platforms.
• Knowledge of Power BI Gateway configuration and administration.
• Experience implementing security models and governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Exposure to Python or R for advanced analytics.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for Power BI deployments.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Microsoft Power BI, Azure, or Fabric certifications preferred.

Education

• Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading BI modernization initiatives.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise data environments.
• Knowledge of machine learning and predictive analytics integration with Power BI.
