You will bridge the gap between theoretical physics and functional prototyping, steering multidisciplinary initiatives that redefine how the Navy interacts with the subsea environment. Your influence will be felt across the entire project lifecycle—from conceptualizing first-principles solutions to deploying integrated hardware in the field.
What You’ll Do
Architect and manage a diverse portfolio of next-generation maritime technology programs, ensuring all technical objectives align with critical defense requirements.
Drive the strategic evolution of the Sensing and Communications department by identifying emerging technological trends and capability gaps.
Champion the creation of sophisticated, multi-domain technical proposals that secure funding for novel underwater engineering solutions.
Synthesize input from cross-functional teams to resolve complex system design hurdles while maintaining rigorous engineering standards.
Mentor junior engineering talent, providing the technical oversight and professional guidance necessary to cultivate the next generation of researchers.
Orchestrate the planning and execution of maritime field tests and at-sea experiments to validate system performance in real-world conditions.
Apply advanced mathematical modeling and fundamental physics to ensure all designs are grounded in scientific excellence.
What You Bring
Educational Excellence: A Master’s or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Ocean Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related quantitative field.
Proven Expertise: At least 5 years (10+ preferred) of professional experience navigating the technology development lifecycle, from initial R&D to deployment.
Technical Versatility: Deep familiarity with acoustic communication frameworks, digital/analog circuit architecture, and signal processing.
Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated success in leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and managing program variables including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
Subsea Knowledge: A strong background in autonomous underwater systems, sonar processing, or naval operational environments.
Communication Mastery: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both internal stakeholders and external government customers.
