Principal Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Services ? Datacenter Cloud Operations (DCOPS) is a hand-on position subject matter expert in modern enterprise hybrid cloud datacenter, Core Services and Operating Systems technology platforms (E.g. Microsoft technologies, AD\Entra ID, Azure, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Windows Server OS, SUSE Linux, RHEL Linux, Enterprise Backup\DR, SAN storage, etc.); responsible for the envision, design, establishment of standards, driving future design strategy, solution development, overseeing of implementations, configuration management, operations, and maintenance. You are also responsible for performing and driving day to day technical and administrative activities, maintaining, and delivering optimal operational efficiency of Kontoor?s global hybrid cloud infrastructure landscape environments, including both public & private cloud datacenters as well as server computing technologies across distributed locations.

Principal Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Services ? DCOPS interact and collaborate closely with application integration, application workstreams, information security and other technical infrastructure teams providing deep and broad hybrid-cloud infrastructure technical expertise to guide project planning, prioritization, troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical infrastructure related business challenges and issues. This role will also help identify, define and propose future strategies, establish and document standards, processes, operational procedures, as well as automation of those processes and procedures that foster continuous advancement of the overall clients hybrid-cloud infrastructure global landscape.

You will also be responsible for proactive monitoring and managing Kontoor?s global hybrid-cloud datacenters and distributed infrastructure overseeing planning, design, installation, configuration, patching, change management, upgrading, systems refresh, system protection. Principal Systems Engineer also maintains Kontoor?s entire hybrid-cloud datacenter technologies stack and its tightly integrated systems and infrastructure. As needed, the role would be overseeing daily activities of contractors and managed-service providers resources performing these duties which include 24x7 system monitoring and alerting, analyzing system logs for errors, and developing solutions, execute approved system change activities, applying upgrades, Operating Systems and kernel patches, security vulnerability patching, and resolving customers request submitted via support tickets. This role is part of Kontoor?s Global Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Services team and will require frequent interaction with vendors and third-party service providers.

Assist with effective decision making within the functional team, including communication of decisions to appropriate infrastructure and application teams, IT leadership, stakeholders, partners and maintaining vendor relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Engineering and Operations:


In conjunction with global IT Infrastructure services team ? evaluate, engineer, plan, install, configure, deploy and administer solution related to core services and hybrid-cloud infrastructure technology components; include maintaining N-1 platforms or systems upgrades and patching, systems refreshes and/or enhancements across existing and future enterprise landscape as required from lower environments (Sandbox, Dev, Test, QA, Pre-Prod) to production and disaster recovery environment.


System Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Ensuring smooth operations, continuous monitoring, and optimization of Kontoor?s global infrastructure technology environments.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Participate with troubleshooting issues, incident response, change control, testing and validate infrastructure changes or problems across the hybrid-cloud infrastructure and distributed environment. Quickly addressing and resolving technical issues across global infrastructure technology landscape.

Configuration Changes & Maintenance: Overseeing the configuration changes of datacenter and cloud infrastructure and services technologies.

Cloud and Integration Management: Ensuring seamless integration of on-premises systems with SaaS and cloud platforms like Azure.

On-Call & Off-Shift Work: Flexibility to work on shifts-based schedule if there is an operational need. Require participation in some On-call support and/or Follow-the-Sun Support model.

Architecture, Standards, Project Execution and Delivery:

Serving as the subject matter expert/lead technical resources for current and future Kontoor?s hybrid-cloud and distributed infrastructure related platforms and components to support multiple, parallel projects and global IT initiative while maintaining reliability, performance, and ensuring best practices are implemented to sure-up Kontoor?s business.

Lead project technical design sessions analyzing business and technical infrastructure & cloud requirements, processes, integrate solutions of new and existing infrastructure. Ensure that technical solution designs are consistent with Kontoor?s Global IT Standards and strategic direction.

Research trends in technologies; determines and propose trends and technologies applicable to optimizing and advancing Kontoor IT and business capabilities.

Peer Review, validate, develop technical designs, prototypes, process designs, testing, training, and definition of support procedures for systems deployment in Cloud/On-Prem infrastructure(s).

Develop and maintain appropriate detailed system documentation for global datacenter cloud technologies environment, instances, interfaces, platforms, and relevant solutions ? including architecture, design, integration flows, implementation, standard operating procedures, and testing lifecycle activities.

As required, prepare formal project documentation, including specifications, requirements summaries, high-level design, low-level logical system design documents, state diagrams, automation integration flow, and test scripts.

Willingness to Travel and work across time zones as required to support delivery.

Internal Stakeholder and Vendor Management:

Build, develop, and grow business relationships with users within Kontoor Global IT Infrastructure/Network/Application/Security and with key partners and vendors. This includes working with internal and external Infrastructure, application, security, and Networking teams to maintain and advance support for both current and future technology landscapes.

Provide regular communication to Kontoor IT management and leadership team on internal team initiatives, global IT Automation journey goals/objectives, Infrastructure/automation related projects, and other work assignments.




Requirements

Bachelor?s degree in computer science, Computer Science/Software Development/Engineering, Infrastructure Technology Automation/Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred, or a 15+ years combination of equivalent education and relevant experience

Certification in Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Windows Server OS, SUSE Linux hosting SAP, RHEL Linux)

Certifications in various Datacenter Technologies (e.g., Enterprise applications, Datacenter Virtualization, SAN storage, Data protection, Infrastructure Security, Various Operating Systems & database platforms, etc..)

  • Overall Enterprise IT Engineering Experience:
    • 15+ years of total progressive experience in Enterprise IT industry experience encompassing a wide range of skill set, roles and industry verticals including a complex large-scale global IT operation, design, engineering, implementation, migrations, transformations, deployment rollout including broad experience with driving IT platform architecture/design/administration, service management and IT governance/control processes
  • 15+ Years? Hybrid-Cloud Datacenter Technical Expertise:

o Hybrid-cloud technologies: Experience with supporting and maintaining a global hybrid datacenter with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and core services technologies such as Active Directory, Entra ID, Privilege Access Management (PAM)\HSM\Kev Vault, DNS\DHCP\Internal PKI and Cloud PKI\Certificates Authority\Public & Private Domain Services\File & Print, etc.

o Microsoft Windows Hybrid Domain Infrastructure Environment: Experience with Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, Office 365, Exchange online, SharePoint, and other Microsoft technologies.

o Major Linux Operating Systems: Experience with SUSE and RHEL Linux operating systems on premises and hyper-scale cloud datacenters. SUSE & RHEL supporting SAP S4 HANA preferred

o Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and datacenter virtualization: Experience with Nutanix AHV, Hyper-V cluster, Azure Stack, and Containers\Kubernetes technologies such as Enterprise OpenShift.

o Advance level knowledge of networking, OSI model, TCP/IP, routers, load balancers and XML gateway devices, including IPv4, IPv6, SFTP, SSH, PKI, TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SSL, TLS, HTTPS, etc.

o Enterprise hybrid-cloud Backup/Recovery & Disaster Recovery Strategy: Experience in enterprise backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategy, backup/recovery processes, and maintaining system availability leveraging technology such as Commvault, Native HA technology, SQL log backup, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), MIMIX, Cisco MDS SAN and Dell/EMC PowerMax SAN Storage array.

  • 15+ Years? Cloud & Integration Knowledge:
    • SaaS Products & Integrations: Familiarity with SaaS products and integrations, particularly with hybrid-cloud datacenter technologies, SUSE\RHEL, and Microsoft Azure solutions.
    • Hybrid Cloud Environments: Experience working with Azure and managing cloud-based systems, including integration with on-premises, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS) system.
    • Modern Virtual Desktop/Application Delivery: Enterprise Modern End User Computing platform technologies for virtual desktop/applications, & application packaging/delivery such as Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
  • 15+ Years? System Administration, Monitoring, and Maintenance:
    • Operating System and Database Management: Experience with both SUSE\RHEL Linux and Windows operating systems. Expertise in Enterprise Systems\DB backup, restore, and recovery, server monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting issues from the OS level.
    • Microsoft & Linux Platforms: Deep knowledge of Microsoft & Linux core technology, architecture, landscape design, installation, upgrades, and performance tuning.
    • ITSM & AIOPS: Experience with using both ITSM & AIOPS platform tools such as Freshservices, Amelia AIOPS, Big Panda, ServiceNow, etc.
  • 15+ Years? Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
    • Incident Management: Experience with leading troubleshooting issues, including monitoring work processes, analyzing logs, and applying solutions based on core technology systems updates and release lifecycles.
    • Systems & DB Performance Analysis: Expertise in using monitoring tools such as Dynatrace & SQL traces for performance optimization and impact analysis.
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Ability to perform in-depth analysis and identify the root causes of performance issues or incidents.
  • 8+ Years? IT DevOps, CI\CD, and Automation:
    • Scripting & Code Development Languages: Experience with scripting and automating Infrastructure and cloud platforms using scripting languages, tools and management of script libraries such as Azure PowerShell, PowerShell, Azure ARM, Python, Bash, Ansible Tower, Broadcom (CA) Automic, etc.
    • Infrastructure as Code Automation: Experience with infrastructure orchestration and automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) for provisioning and management of on-premises infrastructure, Azure hosted Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Software as a Service capabilities including core infrastructure, physical & virtual machines, physical & virtual network/network security, load balancers, and infrastructure applications/platforms (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, IIS, Tomcat, Apache, etc..) and database services.
    • IT DevOps: Experience with IT DevOps framework, CI/CD platforms and tools such as Azure DevOps, Pipeline, Git, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible Tower
