Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer for a contract position with a Major Financial Institution located in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a 2+ month contract opportunity. This role is responsible for the detailed technical design and development of software solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on developer working within an agile crew to write code, test, and deploy software while also coaching junior team members. This position involves maintaining and debugging software to address complex business needs.
Responsibilities: - Provide detailed technical design and hands-on development of software solutions
- Work with an agile crew to understand user stories and meet acceptance criteria
- Write, test, and deploy high-quality code
- Maintain and debug existing software to correct errors and improve performance
- Prepare technical and procedural documentation
- Modify software to adapt it to new hardware or to upgrade interfaces
- Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures
- Consult with engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software
- Coach junior team members as needed
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience
- 5+ years of Java development experience
- Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to testing and delivery
- Experience with computer development software such as SQL, Java, and J2EE
- Strong problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired skills: - Ability to coach and mentor junior developers
- Experience giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Strong team collaboration skills
Pay range: $50.01 - $58.01 per hour
