Job Title: Jaeger Analytics /Developer
Work Location: Remote
Duration: 12+ Months (Ability To Extend)
This role involves working on an experimental/specialized component of the Jaeger distributed tracing backend.
The developer builds tools to process trace data in real-time, allowing for advanced analysis beyond simple visualization
- Flink & Kafka Integration: Developing and maintaining Spark or Flink streaming jobs that consume trace data from Kafka topics.
- Graph Analysis: Utilizing graph trace DSL (Domain Specific Language) based on Apache Gremlin to analyze service dependencies.
- Data Modeling: Creating data analytic models and metrics derived from tracing spans.
- Feature Development: Building components to load traces from the Jaeger query service for analysis.
- Visualization: Developing Jupyter notebooks to demonstrate analytics models and creating Grafana dashboards for trace insights.
- Maintenance: Updating dependencies to ensure compatibility with current Flink and Kafka versions.
- Languages: Strong knowledge of Java.
- Technologies: Experience with Apache Flink, Kafka, and potentially Apache Spark.
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of distributed tracing, span structures, and service dependencies.
- Database Experience: Familiarity with Cassandra or Elasticsearch
