Job Description A rapidly growing AI company is building an agentic platform designed to automate highly nuanced workflows within the financial services industry. Its technology helps investment banks, private equity firms, and other financial institutions automate the research, analysis, and creation of complex materials, allowing professionals to spend less time gathering information and creating first drafts and more time on higher-value work. The platform combines financial expertise with advanced AI and software engineering to uncover insights and produce sophisticated work that would otherwise require significant manual effort.
As a Software Engineer, you'll have full ownership of projects from conception through deployment in a highly fluid and fast-paced startup environment. You'll build and scale user-friendly applications while contributing to a broad range of technical initiatives, from longer-term research and product innovation to day-to-day bug fixes and improvements. You'll also work directly with customer feedback, help prioritize workstreams, and apply a critical eye to the quality and accuracy of AI-generated outputs.
This is a highly autonomous role where you'll be expected to help shape not only individual features but the broader direction of an expanding AI platform. You'll work closely with a motivated team to develop new technology and applications that deliver accurate, robust, and scalable solutions for demanding financial-services customers. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating without a predefined playbook, takes ownership from idea through production, and is excited to continuously learn about the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape.
The team works entirely in person in Manhattan, New York City, four days per week, with Fridays remote. This is an opportunity to join an early-stage environment alongside engineers, AI practitioners, financial-services professionals, and former founders while having meaningful influence over the technology and product as the company scales.
Required Skills & Experience - 4+ years of full-time software engineering experience
- Strong experience building full-stack, user-friendly applications designed to scale
- Experience with TypeScript and Python
- Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS
- Strong interest in generative AI and the rapidly evolving AI technology landscape
- Experience working in unstructured environments with significant autonomy
- Demonstrated ability to take projects from conception through deployment
- Strong ownership, intrinsic motivation, and a critical approach to evaluating your own work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-moving, lean engineering team
Desired Skills & Experience - Experience as an early engineer or founder at a fast-growing startup
- Previous experience researching or working directly with AI systems
- Experience utilizing closed-source AI models or fine-tuning and deploying open-source models
- Strong understanding of scalable system design, performance optimization, and resilience engineering
- Extensive frontend engineering experience
- Experience with UI/UX design
- Previous experience working directly with customers and incorporating customer feedback into product development
- Technical leadership experience
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
- Own software projects from initial concept through implementation, deployment, and iteration
- Build full-stack applications and features designed for scale and usability
- Develop cloud-based systems and services using technologies such as TypeScript, Python, and AWS
- Work across both new product development and ongoing improvements, including research projects, feature development, and bug fixes
- Partner with customers and internal teams to understand feedback and identify opportunities for product improvement
- Evaluate the quality and accuracy of AI-generated outputs with a critical lens
- Contribute to the development and evolution of an expanding agentic AI platform
- Explore emerging generative AI technologies and determine how they can be applied to production applications
- Collaborate closely with engineering and AI teams to develop robust and accurate technology
- Help prioritize workstreams and make decisions in an environment with rapidly changing requirements
- Contribute to scalable system architecture, performance optimization, and reliability as the platform grows
The Offer You will receive the following benefits:
- Base Salary: $140,000-$180,000, depending on experience
