Job Details

Resource 1 is in need of a Sr. Tandem/COBOL Developer, ideally with some experience supporting accounting and finance-related systems, to help strengthen and expand a mission-critical ERP platform built on HP NonStop (Tandem). The primary objective of this position is to reduce single points of failure, increase cross-coverage, and provide long-term stability across core financial processes such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, month-end processing, and General Ledger integration. While accounting domain knowledge is valuable, strong Tandem technical expertise is the top priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Tandem applications supporting Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), month-end and year-end processing, General Ledger (GL) feeds and reconciliations.
  • Support batch cycles, close processes, and financial data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues tied to accounting timelines and reporting deadlines.
  • Design, develop, and enhance applications on the HP NonStop (Tandem) platform.
  • Work extensively with COBOL, TACL, Enscribe, SQL/MP, and Tandem batch processing.
  • Maintain high standards for accuracy, auditability, and system reliability.
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing and cross-training to reduce dependency on individual contributors.
  • Document system functionality and operational procedures.
  • Serve as a backup owner for critical financial processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Tandem (HP NonStop) development experience.
  • Strong COBOL development skills on Tandem.
  • Experience supporting batch-heavy, data-sensitive systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AP, AR, GL, or financial reporting systems.
  • Background in financial services, payments, EFT, or banking on Tandem.
  • Exposure to ERP or homegrown financial platforms.
  • Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior developers.

Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 2 weeks of PTO per year, 24 hours of sick time per year, 401(k) with 4% match
