Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: One Year Contract with possibility of extensions

 

Position Summary

The SAP S/4HANA Finance & Treasury Consultant will provide leadership and hands-on support for SAP Finance and Treasury operations, documentation, testing, upgrades, and migration activities related to the state’s transition from ECC to SAP S/4HANA.

This role requires strong public sector financial management experience, including budgeting, appropriations, grants, and governmental accounting processes. The consultant will also support solution design, process improvement initiatives, testing strategies, documentation standards, and operational support activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

SAP Finance & Treasury Support

  • Administer and support SAP FI and Treasury/Cash Management functionality, including ancillary applications utilized by the State.
  • Provide analysis, development, testing, troubleshooting, issue tracking, and resolution support for SAP Finance and Treasury solutions.
  • Identify and analyze business impacts related to ECC to S/4HANA Finance and Treasury transformations.
  • Assist with SAP upgrades, OSS Notes implementation, support packs, and enhancement activities.
  • Provide after-hours SAP support as needed for critical system issues or deployment activities.

Documentation & Process Design

  • Develop comprehensive current-state and future-state process documentation aligned with DEA documentation standards.
  • Document Finance and Treasury business processes associated with the SAP platform upgrade initiative.
  • Collaborate with business process owners, team leads, analysts, and DEA leadership to validate and approve documentation.
  • Recommend best practices for public sector finance, treasury operations, and enterprise process optimization.

Testing & Implementation Support

  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and system owners during system testing activities.
  • Develop and execute unit tests and test scripts to validate SAP solutions and integrations.
  • Assist in development of enterprise test plans and validation procedures.
  • Support implementation planning and contribute to creation of high-level deployment roadmaps.

Technical & Strategic Collaboration

  • Assist with defining hardware specifications and evaluating the current SAP landscape for additional functionality.
  • Participate in team planning sessions, workshops, and cross-functional collaboration activities.
  • Mentor junior team members on SAP concepts, methodologies, and toolsets.
  • Lead or support workshops with business users and executive leadership stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of SAP experience within Public Sector environments
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with SAP upgrades, OSS Notes, support packs, and troubleshooting
  • 7+ years of SAP ECC FI module experience
  • 7+ years of SAP Finance or Treasury/Cash Management experience
  • 7+ years of experience supporting budgeting, appropriations, grants management, and governmental accounting processes
  • 3+ years of SAP S/4HANA experience
  • Strong understanding of enterprise ERP process integration and financial operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative team environments

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading full lifecycle SAP implementations
  • Experience conducting executive-level workshops and stakeholder presentations
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio, and Project
