Job Details

We are seeking a qualified Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support a federal construction project at Camp Mackall, NC. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Enforce EM 385-1-1 and OSHA safety regulations on-site
Implement and manage the project Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and activity hazard analyses (AHAs)
Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site orientations
Monitor subcontractor compliance with all safety requirements
Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting
Coordinate with project management, QC, and subcontractors to ensure safe execution of work
Lead incident investigations and corrective actions as needed

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience (within the last 10 years)
EM 385-1-1 certification
OSHA 30 Certification
24 hours of documented formal safety training
Prior experience on federal construction projects (USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, etc.) strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, hazard recognition, and compliance enforcement
Ability to lead safety efforts in a fast-paced, multi-contractor environment

Additional Requirements

Must be local to Camp Mackall, NC (no per diem offered)
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to work full-time on-site
