Senior Power Electronics Engineer -

Denver, Colorado | On-site

Opportunity Summary

Join a venture-backed aerospace company developing advanced spacecraft platforms for future commercial and government missions. As the company builds flight-ready hardware, this role will lead the electrical power architecture that distributes, protects, and manages energy across every spacecraft subsystem. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on power electronics, battery systems, electrical distribution, actuator drive electronics, and hardware validation. You'll own the spacecraft power system from battery management through power conversion, distribution, monitoring, and fault protection while working alongside firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.

About Us

We are an early-stage aerospace company developing integrated spacecraft technologies that combine advanced hardware, embedded software, and precision engineering. Engineers have broad ownership and the opportunity to influence products from initial architecture through flight qualification.

Job Duties
  • Own spacecraft electrical power architecture from battery through power distribution.
  • Design battery management systems and electrical protection circuits.
  • Develop power conversion hardware including DC-DC converters and switching electronics.
  • Design actuator drive electronics and high-current switching circuits.
  • Implement fault protection, current limiting, and electrical redundancy strategies.
  • Develop power telemetry and health monitoring systems.
  • Create schematics, PCB layouts, manufacturing documentation, and design reviews.
  • Perform board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, and environmental testing.
  • Analyze electrical performance using laboratory instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, systems, and mechanical engineering teams throughout product development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years designing power electronics or electrical power systems.
  • Experience with DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, and power distribution.
  • Experience developing lithium-ion battery systems and battery management.
  • Understanding of thermal management and power system reliability.
  • Experience using Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar PCB tools.
  • Strong hardware debugging experience using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and power supplies.

Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace, defense, automotive, or other mission-critical electronics.
  • Motor controllers, H-bridges, or actuator drive electronics.
  • Radiation-aware or high-reliability electrical design.
  • Thermal vacuum or harsh environment hardware.
  • Embedded power telemetry over I2C, SMBus, or similar protocols.
  • Basic firmware or scripting to support hardware validation.

Why Join Us
  • Own a critical portion of the spacecraft electrical architecture.
  • Work on flight hardware from concept through qualification.
  • Early-stage environment with significant technical ownership.
  • Competitive equity opportunity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Paid vacation and company holidays.
