Product Manager Residential Routers & Gateways
As Product Manager, you will be entrusted with bringing an entire product line to life from concept to market release and beyond. You ll lead cross-functional teams (local and remote) and coordinate with internal departments, external clients, and suppliers to ensure technical excellence and timely delivery.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Product Development Leadership
o Drive the design and development of new products in alignment with strategic goals.
o Supervise existing products and propose future innovations.
o Lead concurrent engineering efforts across software, electronics, and mechanics.
o Define project scope, estimate resources, manage investments, and establish development plans.
o Organize team workload, split tasks, and monitor progress using performance indicators.
o Ensure product qualification through internal and customer validation.
- Technical Decision-Making
o Approve architecture and design choices with consideration for manufacturability, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Team Leadership and Development
o Set annual goals, identify training needs, and support career development.
o Promote knowledge transfer and capitalize on internal expertise.
- Quality and Cost Oversight
o Supervise product quality in manufacturing and field performance.
o Manage budgets and implement corrective actions based on data analysis and customer feedback.
Technical Expertise Or Skills-
Software: IP networking protocols, Linux, embedded systems, drivers, kernel, and middlewares (Prpl, OpenWrt, OpenSync, RDK-B).
Hardware: Schematics, PCB layout, RF design, antennas, high-speed buses (Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, SerDes), and regulatory standards (FCC, UL).
Mechanical: Plastic part design, injection tooling, thermal considerations and integration with electronics.
Chipsets: Familiarity with broadband router SoCs and platforms.
Broadband technologies: 5G/LTE, EPON, GPON, DOCSIS, Wi-Fi, BLE.
Leadership & Project Management
Proven experience managing cross-disciplinary engineering teams and complex product development projects.
Strong organizational skills in planning, priority setting, and performance tracking.
Communication & Collaboration
Advanced mastery in cross-functional collaboration, customer engagement, and intercultural teamwork.
Team size: likely starts around 5 10 direct reports and can grow toward 15 20
Product: residential gateways used in homes:
Fixed wireless gateways (5G connection to the internet + Wi-Fi for the home)
Cable gateways (DOCSIS on the WAN side + Wi-Fi 7 on the LAN side)
Fiber gateways (XGS-PON / 10G EPON on the WAN side + Wi-Fi on the LAN side)
Platforms/middleware vary by project:
RDK-B
OpenWrt (with their own middleware on top)

Team makeup: engineers only (software + hardware + mechanical), plus strong coordination with purchasing/cost, labs, vendors, and factories
