Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on IT Field Technician to support technology deployments, low-voltage cabling projects, and onsite technical support activities. The ideal candidate will have experience with structured cabling, basic IT hardware and networking support, and general construction or handyman skills. This role requires travel to customer sites, working in various environments, and assisting with installations, troubleshooting, and technology rollouts.
Key Responsibilities- Install, pull, route, and terminate low-voltage cabling including Ethernet, data, and phone lines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and network diagrams to support cabling and technology installations.
- Install cable drops, patch panels, wall plates, and related infrastructure components.
- Configure and connect networking equipment including routers, switches, wireless access points, and peripheral devices.
- Deploy, install, and troubleshoot desktops, workstations, printers, POS systems, and other end-user technology.
- Work with remote support and administrative teams to configure, troubleshoot, and validate hardware installations.
- Perform onsite diagnostics and basic network troubleshooting to identify and resolve connectivity issues.
- Assist with technology upgrades, equipment relocations, and new site deployments.
- Utilize power tools and hand tools safely while completing installation projects.
- Work on ladders, lifts, and above-ceiling spaces when required for cabling and infrastructure work.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service activities, and project progress.
- Follow safety guidelines and company standards while working at customer locations.
Required Qualifications- Experience installing and terminating low-voltage cabling.
- Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and hardware connectivity.
- Experience connecting and supporting routers, switches, desktops, printers, and POS equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
- Experience working with hand tools and power tools.
- Comfortable working on ladders and in ceiling spaces when necessary.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a field-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with structured cabling standards and best practices.
- Exposure to network infrastructure deployments and retail technology installations.
- Prior experience as a Field Technician, Cable Technician, Installation Technician, or IT Support Technician.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific certifications.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
