Job Summary
The IT Solutions / Systems Architect Enterprise Wires Payments owns the endtoend architecture and technical direction of the bank s enterprise wire transfer platforms. This role ensures wire payment solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, compliant, and aligned to business and regulatory requirements, while reducing reliance on vendors and improving delivery outcomes.
The architect serves as the technical authority for wires, partnering with Product, Operations, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and vendors to design, govern, and evolve the platform supporting initiatives such as ISO 20022 adoption, platform modernization, integrations, and merger/conversion efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Own currentstate and targetstate architecture for enterprise wire payment platforms across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security layers.
- Define architectural standards, patterns, and roadmaps to support scalability, resiliency, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead solution design for ISO 20022 wire processing, message transformation, validation, and downstream impacts.
Platform & Integration Leadership
- Architect integrations with core banking, digital channels, fraud/AML, sanctions, GL, reporting platforms, and external networks/vendors using APIs, batch, messaging, and SFTP.
- Govern vendor platforms and customizations to minimize risk and align with enterprise standards.
- Design solutions for bulk wires, notifications, reconciliation, historical data access, and operational tooling.
Delivery & Execution
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into solution designs and implementation guidance.
- Review and approve technical designs, integration approaches, and deployment strategies.
- Provide architectural leadership during testing, production incidents, root cause analysis, and remediation.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure architectures meet security, audit, risk, and regulatory requirements for wire payments.
- Support audits and exams through clear documentation of architectures, data flows, and controls.
Documentation & Enablement
- Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, interface contracts, data flows, and technical standards.
- Enable internal teams to support and evolve the platform, reducing dependency on external vendors.
Required Qualifications-
- 7+ years of experience in solutions or systems architecture, with direct experience supporting wire payments or enterprise payments platforms.
- Strong understanding of wire payment processing, ISO 20022, and highvalue transaction flows.
- Proven experience designing complex, highly available, and secure integrations.
- Deep knowledge of application architecture, data design, security, resiliency, and DR.
- Strong ability to influence across Product, Operations, Engineering, and vendor teams.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid architectures (Azure/onprem).
- Background in payments modernization, regulatory initiatives, or merger/conversion programs.
