AI Data Engineer
What the Manager Is Looking For
This is not an AI Architect or Senior Data Scientist role. In fact, the manager said someone with eight or more years of AI experience would likely be overqualified.
The ideal candidate is an early career or junior Data Engineer with a strong technical foundation, high curiosity, and the ability to grow into AI initiatives.
Required Technical Skills
- SQL
- Python
- ETL fundamentals
- Data Engineering fundamentals
- Basic AI exposure through school, projects, or work
- Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
- Understanding of data pipelines and data movement
Preferred Technology Background
Experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required:
- BigQuery
- Spark
- Informatica
- DataStage
The manager is very technology agnostic. Candidates with Azure or AWS experience are welcome if they have a solid data engineering foundation. The team will teach the specific tools.
Most Important Soft Skills
The hiring decision will be driven as much by personality as technical skills.

This role will help support AI initiatives, including:
- Building data pipelines
- Supporting AI solutions
- Creating AI agents
- Working with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Developing data solutions that enable AI
