Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Application Architect III to join our Payments domain architecture team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in microservices, cloud-native design, and distributed systems and a proven ability to define architectural vision and deliver high-throughput, low-latency, resilient solutions in financial services.
Responsibilities:
- Own architecture activities and decisions for a suite of applications in the Payments domain.
- Define solution intent, operating environment, primary systems, subsystems, and interfaces.
- Lead end-to-end solution design and define non-functional requirements and architectural runway for new epics and features.
- Establish container design and deployment strategies and guide cloud migrations.
- Mentor teams on cloud-native patterns and Domain-Driven Design.
- Evaluate system impacts, conduct trade-off analyses, and ensure fitness for purpose with stakeholders and vendors.
- Promote best practices, standard templates, and architecture roadmaps and guide delivery teams in adoption.
- Drive design governance, author architecture decision records, and support code reviews as needed.
- Collaborate with technology leadership and product owners on application design and development priorities.
- Manage multiple concurrent designs and projects to meet delivery timelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 20+ years in information technology, including 15+ years in solution architecture and 2+ years in financial services.
- Deep understanding of DDD, distributed systems, integration patterns, microservices, cloud-native design, and UML.
- Demonstrable experience delivering high-throughput, low-latency, zero-downtime, zero-data-loss microservices using containers, distributed databases, and Kafka.
- Expertise in container orchestration strategies and cloud migration in financial services.
- Proven ability to conduct trade-off analysis across scalability, security, resiliency, and availability with POCs and experiments.
- Experience taking products from inception through requirements, design, implementation readiness, and maintenance.
- Strong governance discipline, including adherence to architecture processes and relevant regulations.
- Technical leadership across a broad set of tools, technologies, and architecture models in Agile and Waterfall environments.
- Hands-on background as a developer and experience producing architecture decision papers.
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or other CSPs.
Preferred Skills:
- Payments technology and processors.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in financial services.
- Bookkeeping and ledger applications.
- Experience collaborating with remote teams across time zones and mentoring junior team members.
- Familiarity with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies.
