FTT will require proof of status prior to employment. General Job Summary:Designs and analyzes aircraft electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and component structures, systems and processes.
Essential Job Functions:- Use computer-aided design (CAD) to produce initial design and specifications for gas turbine/rotating machinery components.
- Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified aircraft system designs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity from concept to development.
- Document changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
- Participate in design reviews, solving complex and analytical problems.
- Define test requirements and analyze data for engine builds and testing.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Experience and Skills- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, specifically Siemens NX.
- Exposure to turbomachinery including airfoils, disks, and shafts.
- Possesses a practical understanding of manufacturing processes and has experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Ability to create a design layout, assign component tolerances, and perform tolerance stacks.
- Able to trade component material options based on material properties and component application.
- Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:- BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of related experience
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:- Office and/or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
