Summary

Project Description :
We have a need for two (2) Senior Scrum Masters to support an Agile program within a large, complex IT organization. The Senior Scrum Master serves as a servant leader for the Agile team - facilitating Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, and coaching the team toward self-organization and high performance.

This role navigates resistance to Agile practices, addresses team conflicts and dysfunctions, and builds psychological safety and collaboration. The Senior Scrum Master works closely with the Agile Coach and Product Owner to ensure the team operates effectively within Agile principles while delivering predictable value.

Start: July 20, 2026 | End: December 31, 2026 (strong possibility to extend) | Location: Washington, DC (fully onsite) | Openings: 2

Qualification Requirements :
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience as a Scrum Master serving multiple teams in complex, matrixed organizations
  • CSM or PSM II (or higher) certification required; Certified Scrum Professional or SAFe Scrum Master preferred
  • Proven track record building self-organizing teams and driving measurable improvements in team velocity and predictability
  • Demonstrated ability to address team conflicts and guide teams through cultural and mindset shifts
  • Government or highly regulated industry experience preferred

  • Experience working within established organizational Agile playbooks
  • Ability to navigate organizational complexity and shield the team from external disruptions
  • Coaching teams toward Agile maturity and continuous improvement


Responsibilities :
  • Team Self-Organization & Accountability - Build self-organizing, empowered teams that take ownership of commitments and foster accountability for sprint goals and delivery
  • Impediment Removal & Escalation - Identify and remove team-level impediments quickly; escalate organizational/systemic blockers to appropriate leadership; maintain transparent impediment tracking
  • Continuous Improvement Culture - Facilitate meaningful retrospectives that drive action; implement improvements based on team feedback; foster a mindset of experimentation and learning
