TASKS:
  • Conduct Stakeholder & User Research: Lead interviews and user research with elderly residents, immigrant communities, and other effected populations to understand their specific challenges and needs for prevention and reporting.

  • Define Functional Requirements: Translate user needs into technical design requirements for the app s call-filtering interface and the website s resource navigation that are intuitive and helpful.
  • Execute High-Fidelity Wireframing: Support the design of the user interface for the Secure App and web resources.
  • Create Content Strategy: Draft plain-language, trauma-informed content for the resource s pages and in collaboration with 311 to ensure instructions are easy to follow during high-stress situations.
  • Build Interactive Prototypes: Develop prototypes in Figma or similar tools to demonstrate user flows for stakeholder approval and developer handoff.
  • Facilitate Usability Testing: Run iterative testing sessions with diverse users to identify and resolve points of friction in the app and web layouts.
  • Oversee Visual Design Consistency: Ensure all digital assets align with brand identity and use key design components of the design system.

  • User Experience (UX) / Product Design experience.
  • User research methodology expertise including proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., usability testing, moderated user interviews)
  • Mastery of industry-standard design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite for high-fidelity design and prototyping.
  • Experience working on a cross functional technical team with engineers and product managers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience designing interfaces that support multiple languages (specifically Spanish, Chinese, and Russian) and vulnerable populations.
  • Experience designing mobile applications (iOS/Android) and mobile friendly websites
  • Accessibility expertise, particularly for seniors (e.g., high-contrast ratios, legible typography, and screen-reader optimization).
