Greetings of the day..!
Momento USA is a global technology consulting, talent acquisition and creative development firm that addresses clients’ most pressing needs and challenges. We are currently looking for “Senior Technical Product Owner - Mainframe” - Hybrid
Job Title: Senior Technical Product Owner - Mainframe
Location: Austin, TX (Onsite 3 days a week)
Contract: Long term
Job Description:
The core requirement is a senior Technical Product Owner for our mainframe modernization program. This is a large, multi‑year, multi‑track effort and success hinges on strong technical product ownership more than incremental cloud engineering capacity.
Primary Focus: Mainframe Modernization – Technical Product Ownership. We are looking for a hands‑on, senior‑level TPO who has led mainframe modernization programs end‑to‑end, not just participated in them.
Critical skills:
- Must-Have: Ability to map legacy business processes to modern technical requirements.
- Must-Have: Understanding of Data Integration (how to get data out of a mainframe via CDC or APIs).
- Nice-to-Have: Hands-on COBOL experience (they don't need to code, just understand the logic), JCL, CICS, Control‑M, z/OS systems
- Ability to decompose a complex modernization into clear workstreams, EPICs, and execution plans
- Strong command of Product / Agile execution (Jira, backlog ownership, sprint goals) aligned to our PAD (Product Agile DevSecOps) model
- Ownership of technical plan, sequencing, dependencies, RAID, and decisioning, including executive‑level reporting
- Replatforming Experience: Familiarity with Mainframe-to-Cloud re-hosting patterns (e.g., Micro Focus, Rocket Software) and the nuances of environmental parity, EBCDIC-to-ASCII conversion, and batch job translation, VSAM to RDBMS/Flat Files.
Expected artifacts and outcomes include (non‑exhaustive):
- Clearly defined modernization workstreams with EPICs and aligned stories
- Architecture views mapped directly to EPICs and milestones
- Decision logs, RAID logs, dependency matrices
- Wave plans, milestone tracking, and leadership‑ready status reporting
Soft‑skill expectations are equally important:
- Proactive stakeholder engagement across engineering, data, cloud, and PMO teams
- Strong sense of urgency and ownership
- Continuous re‑evaluation of assumptions while maintaining forward momentum
Supporting Skills (Secondary)
- GCP/cloud architecture and hands‑on engineering are supporting skills, not the primary driver
