Apex Systems is seeking an
Installer - Journeyman to support one of our GovCon client's Corporate Network Design, Engineering, and Installation (DE&I) team in Dahlgren, VA. This role provides hands-on physical telecommunications installation support, including installing, terminating, labeling, and testing optical fiber and twisted-pair cabling for voice, video, and data systems. Responsibilities include routing cables through trays and conduits and performing terminations at patch panels and blocks. Responsibilities- Perform fusion splicing and cable terminations using 3M Hot Melts and Corning UniCam Fiber Optic Connectors.
- Assist in building telecommunications rooms in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Test and troubleshoot structured cabling systems including Entrance Facilities, Equipment Rooms, Backbone Cabling, Telecommunications Rooms, Horizontal Cabling, and Work Areas.
- Ensure proper transmission performance for copper and fiber media.
- Install, test, and label wall-mounted or surface-mounted network outlets for copper and fiber media.
- Document configuration changes and submit updates to the Installation Team Lead for integration into communications diagrams.
- Install cable support systems such as conduits, cable trays, and vertical raceways.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-2+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation abilities, including clear, concise report writing.
Physical Demands- Ability to lift 10-15 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
