Overview The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, security, and integrity of the enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses heavily on managing and supporting Fortinet devices, including FortiGate firewalls, Forti Manager, and FortiAnalyzer, while helping transition branch networks from Layer 2 to Layer 3. The engineer will work both independently and as part of a team to support mission-critical environments with 247 availability requirements.
Responsibilities - Design, implement, and support LAN/WAN infrastructure, routing, switching, and security technologies.
- Deploy and configure Fortinet devices including FortiGate, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
- Perform high-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and escalation handling.
- Create and maintain detailed network architecture documentation and Visio diagrams.
- Support network-related ServiceNow tickets and provide onsite/remote assistance.
- Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
- Plan capacity upgrades and future infrastructure deployments.
- Ensure compliance with PCI/PII standards.
- Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and leadership to team members.
- Conduct analysis and implement solutions for problem resolution.
- Travel to various sites for network deployments and maintenance.
Required Qualifications - 4+ years of professional experience in network engineering and design.
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, RIP.
- Experience with VLANs, VTP, STP, Metro-Ethernet, ACLs, VPNs, and enterprise wireless.
- Hands-on expertise with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
- Familiarity with Cisco and Fortinet firewall best practices.
- Experience with VoIP, QoS, network monitoring, and security technologies.
- Strong documentation skills including creation of network diagrams (Visio).
- Ability to work independently or in a team and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
Preferred Certifications - Fortinet: NSE / FCF / FCA / FCP / FCSS (any combination)
